2020 Ford Explorer Introduces New Hybrid Trim

New Ford Explorer

The 2020 Ford Explorer was revealed in early January at the Ford Field in Detroit, where Ford announced two exciting new options for its seven-passenger mid-size SUV: the performance-driven ST, and a powerfully efficient Hybrid.

The 2020 Explorer has been fully redesigned for the new decade, and the updates go much deeper than the surface. The Explorer ST will come with a new 3.0-liter EcoBoost® engine, which Ford has claimed produces 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque.

The ST will reportedly be able to go up to 143 mph, and paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission with standard four-wheel drive and selectable traction control, this SUV is designed to deliver more driving fun than any other vehicle in its class.

The Explorer Hybrid is another exciting addition to Ford’s lineup. This efficiency-focused model produces all the power you need in an SUV at 318 horsepower, and though towing and hauling figures haven’t been announced yet, electrified vehicles historically have exceptional torque.

The Hybrid model will let you travel an incredible 500 miles between stops at the pump, so you can stay on the road longer and spend less money on gas. While many hybrids and other electric cars have bulky batteries taking up cargo space, the Explorer’s battery is located under the second-row seat, so your cargo space is unaffected.

Here at Westland Ford, we can’t wait for the arrival of this new iteration of the Ford Explorer.

Indoor Winter Activities for Kids

Family Winter Activites

Kids love playing in the snow in the winter, but when the temperature is below zero, you have to bring them in from the cold sometime. When you do, having a range of indoor winter activities for kids will keep them busy and let you stay in where it’s warm!

Crafts they’ll have fun putting together

Kids love making crafts, so get your supplies out and get started on some winter-themed crafts. Toilet paper rolls, construction paper, and foam cups make great materials for cardboard polar bears and penguins, printable winter wonderland scenes, snowmen, and more.

Treats and snacks they can help make

It’s a great learning experience for kids to help out in the kitchen, and they’ll have even more fun when they’re making candy or a favorite snack.

Experiment with icy blue rock candy, stir up some hot chocolate with whipped cream made into snowflake shapes, or cut a tortilla into a snowflake and dust it with cinnamon and sugar. You can even just add decorations to premade snacks like string cheese.

Homemade toys they’ll play with for hours

These crafts might make a mess, but is there anything more kids love than messes? From homemade slime to play-based clay, there are tons of squishy substances you can easily make at home.

One of these is play snow, perfect for when there’s no snow on the ground and your kids still want to build a snowman. Baking soda and shampoo or shaving cream will form fake snow that kids will be putting their hands in for hours.

Of course, you can always chart a course to a nearby indoor destination when you purchase a new Ford vehicle from Westland Ford.

Production for the 2019 Ford Ranger - Coming Soon

After taking a break for about eight years, the Ford Ranger is making a comeback. In fact, Ford has started production for the 2019 Ford Ranger at the newly transformed Michigan Assembly Plant. To celebrate the production, Ford invited the plant’s more than 3,000 employees to a special demonstration and off-road experience for the all-new truck.

This event not only celebrates the start of production, but a rebirth of the assembly plant. Ford has invested $850 million to revitalize the plant for modern production. In addition to the Ranger, the Michigan Assembly Plant will product the all-new Ford Bronco, which is scheduled for production in 2020.

“Ford truck fans demanded a midsize pickup that’s ‘Built Ford Tough,’ and we’re delivering with our all-new Ranger that’s specially designed and engineered for American truck customers,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford’s president of global operations. “At the same time, we’re revitalizing our Michigan Assembly Plant and securing good-paying jobs for our hourly employees here in the U.S.”

With vehicles like the Ranger and Bronco, Ford is looking to transform its lineup. These vehicles are the first in a long line of all-new vehicles set to debut by 2020. In fact, Ford plans to revamp more than 75% of its portfolio by that time.

Ford’s 50th Anniversary Mustang

Ford has boasted a lot of iconic cars over the years, but none stand out as much as the Ford Mustang. The 50th Anniversary Mustang Cobra is more impressive, powerful, and iconic than ever.

Ford Performance tested out the Mustang Cobra on August 16th, and it’s proven to be the most advanced Mustang yet. When placed on the track, the racecar did a quarter-mile lap in just over eight seconds – a new record for the Mustang.

The Ford Performance Team wanted the 50th anniversary addition of the car to be special, which is why they crafted it to climb to over 150 miles per hour. It’s a nod to the Mustangs that beat out other competitors at the 1968 NHRA Winternationals.

It’s no wonder that this new Mustang model is so fast – under the hood, an advanced 5.2-liter V8 engine can be found. Paired with this engine is a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger that helps improve the Mustang Cobra’s acceleration. The car’s ride height can be adjusted with two-way coil-over shocks.

This Mustang isn’t just for the race track. Customers can own the Mustang Cobra Jet in Race Red or Oxford White for an MSRP of around $130,000. To honor the iconic car’s anniversary, you can opt to get 50th Anniversary graphics and badging on the car. Learn more about this special edition Ford Mustang when you visit Westland Ford.
