Must-Have Snacks for the Best Game-Watching Party

Summer Game Party

No matter the season, there are always sporting events to watch and cheer for. A great way to do this is by hosting a game-watching party. This lets you cheer on your favorite teams with your best friends all while eating some delicious food. If you need some snack inspiration, check out this list of mouth-watering temptations.

Nachos

One of the great things about nachos is they don’t require any dipping. Pile all your favorite toppings on beforehand and let everyone enjoy the perfect topping-to-chip ratio. For a new idea, try Guy Fieri’s Italian-inspired recipe.

Pigs in a Blanket

Hot dogs wrapped in flaky pastry will always be delicious. Add a tangy dipping sauce alongside the standard ketchup for some variety.

Ice Cream Sandwiches

For something sweet and delicious try whipping up these homemade ice cream sandwiches. Roll the sandwiches in mini M&M’s or chocolate chips to finish them off.

Chicken Wings

You can never go wrong with chicken wings while watching sports. Make plenty so they don’t all disappear before halftime. Try recipes like this honey mustard version of even chicken parmesan.

Pizza

Relive your college days while cheering on your alma mater with a delicious pizza. Make the dough ahead of time and then let everyone choose their own ingredients.

Here at Westland Ford, we hope you and your entire crew enjoy cheering for your favorite team.

Best Skiing in Utah

Skiing in the mountains

The skiing on offer in the state of Utah is some of best in the U.S.A. and it’s only natural that many amazing resorts have sprung up around the state to accommodate the locals and visitors alike who come from across the country to enjoy the fresh Utah powder. Some of the best areas, however, can be a bit remote so having a full-size Ford truck can really come in handy when you just have to hit the slopes.

Powder Mountain

Powder Mountain has made a name for itself through exclusivity. The resort only allows 1,500 ticket sales per day ensuring that there is never a crowd where you want to put down your tracks. Due to this exclusivity, Powder Mountain requires a bit of pre-planning. During that pre-planning you may want to consider packing an extra cooler in the truck bed as dining options in the immediate area are somewhat limited.

Park City

Park City is the largest ski resort in the country and gathers crowds to match. Skiing Park City is almost considered a rite of passage for Utah snow sport enthusiasts. Park City is well situated to benefit from all the lake-effect snow that makes Utah such a skier’s paradise. The Park City town at the base is itself a quaint attraction and worth some time to explore. Home to the world-famous Sundance film festival, this location has plenty to see and do but the town is large enough it could be worth driving from destination to destination in a Ford with heated seats when the temperatures get low.

Snow Basin

Snow Basin is a lesser-known spot that still has a lot to offer. With a number of amenities and food options built for the Olympics, there’s plenty to do on the mountain even between skiing the numerous slopes and terrain types. The only downside is that there is no slope-side accommodation, but with a Ford truck the short 10-minute drive over shouldn’t be much of an issue.

If you need a vehicle that can get you to the slopes, check out our lineup at Westland Ford.

Indoor Winter Activities for Kids

Family Winter Activites

Kids love playing in the snow in the winter, but when the temperature is below zero, you have to bring them in from the cold sometime. When you do, having a range of indoor winter activities for kids will keep them busy and let you stay in where it’s warm!

Crafts they’ll have fun putting together

Kids love making crafts, so get your supplies out and get started on some winter-themed crafts. Toilet paper rolls, construction paper, and foam cups make great materials for cardboard polar bears and penguins, printable winter wonderland scenes, snowmen, and more.

Treats and snacks they can help make

It’s a great learning experience for kids to help out in the kitchen, and they’ll have even more fun when they’re making candy or a favorite snack.

Experiment with icy blue rock candy, stir up some hot chocolate with whipped cream made into snowflake shapes, or cut a tortilla into a snowflake and dust it with cinnamon and sugar. You can even just add decorations to premade snacks like string cheese.

Homemade toys they’ll play with for hours

These crafts might make a mess, but is there anything more kids love than messes? From homemade slime to play-based clay, there are tons of squishy substances you can easily make at home.

One of these is play snow, perfect for when there’s no snow on the ground and your kids still want to build a snowman. Baking soda and shampoo or shaving cream will form fake snow that kids will be putting their hands in for hours.

Of course, you can always chart a course to a nearby indoor destination when you purchase a new Ford vehicle from Westland Ford.

Head to the Ogden Valley Balloon & Artists Festival

Take the little ones out to the Ogden Valley Balloons Artist Festival!

Since its inception in 1994, the Ogden Valley Balloon & Artists Festival has been hailed as a local rite of passage between summer and fall. Held on the third weekend in August, the Ogden Valley Balloon & Artists Festival features hot air balloons, live entertainment, food, arts & crafts, and even a balloon glow!

The festival attracts between 13,000 to 16,000 attendees every year, including local residents, out-of-state visitors, artists, balloon pilots, and musicians. It takes place north of Ogden City at Eden Park and features five balloon launches with 15 hot air balloons, a nighttime “balloon glow,” tethered rides, and activities for young children. Make sure you bring cash for the artists and vendors, and maybe even budget for a hot air balloon ride (which is $520 per couple for one day or $1000 for the whole weekend).

The Ogden Valley Balloon & Artists Festival has been one of Ogden City’s leading attractions for years, and it’s not something to be missed.
