Just when you thought you had seen it all, Ford announces a major breakthrough in the automotive world. The long-awaited all-electric Mustang-inspired SUV is finally ready for the world to see.
According to the Blue Oval, this SUV, whose design is heavily influenced by the Mustang pony car and which will run 100 percent on electric power, will be unveiled on Nov. 17. This is Ford’s first mass-market electric vehicle and has been codenamed Mach 1; it was first teased during the North American International Auto Show in Detroit back in January of 2018.
So, what do we know about this electric Ford SUV inspired by the Mustang? Not much, though Ford has dropped some hints here and there. So far, we know that:
The SUV’s all-electric range will exceed 300 miles.
Lincoln will borrow this SUV’s platform for its own model, likely a luxury electric SUV.
Ford has secured partnerships with several companies to grant drivers access to more than 12,000 charging stations across the country, including several 150 kW DC fast chargers.
Though it was unveiled with the temporary name of “Mach 1,” Ford has filed a trademark for the name “Mach E.” This could very well be the SUV’s new name.

The old record of 960 was set at a parade in Toluca, Mexico, in December of 2017. For the 2019 parade, Mustang drivers came to Belgium from all over Europe and drove in a straight line with no more than 20 meters between each car to qualify for the record.
2019 is the 55th anniversary of the Mustang, so drivers drove their Mustangs in a celebratory choreography during the parade as well, before parking side by side in an enormous parking lot for drivers and attendees to view. The namesake of the Ford Mustang, the P51 fighter plane, even did a flyover at the parade.
Belgium was the perfect place to hold the parade; the Mustang is more popular there than in any other country in Europe. And sales of the Mustang in Europe overall have increased by 3.7 percent from last year for a total 5,500, helping the Mustang keeps it title of best-selling sports car worldwide for the fourth year in a row.
Ford has boasted a lot of iconic cars over the years, but none stand out as much as the Ford Mustang. The 50th Anniversary Mustang Cobra is more impressive, powerful, and iconic than ever.
Ford Performance tested out the Mustang Cobra on August 16th, and it’s proven to be the most advanced Mustang yet. When placed on the track, the racecar did a quarter-mile lap in just over eight seconds – a new record for the Mustang.
The Ford Performance Team wanted the 50th anniversary addition of the car to be special, which is why they crafted it to climb to over 150 miles per hour. It’s a nod to the Mustangs that beat out other competitors at the 1968 NHRA Winternationals.
It’s no wonder that this new Mustang model is so fast – under the hood, an advanced 5.2-liter V8 engine can be found. Paired with this engine is a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger that helps improve the Mustang Cobra’s acceleration. The car’s ride height can be adjusted with two-way coil-over shocks.
This Mustang isn’t just for the race track. Customers can own the Mustang Cobra Jet in Race Red or Oxford White for an MSRP of around $130,000. To honor the iconic car’s anniversary, you can opt to get 50th Anniversary graphics and badging on the car. Learn more about this special edition Ford Mustang when you visit Westland Ford.
It’s difficult to find someone who doesn’t know about the Ford Mustang. The nameplate was an overnight sensation when it debuted, and it quickly became an icon of the era of muscle cars. Even still today, the Ford Mustang is a household name, and its seamless combination of distinctive, nostalgic design and modern innovation keep it going strong even as it becomes entrenched in an increasingly competitive auto industry. This perseverance has brought a new Ford Mustang milestone to fruition – the 10 million mark.
Ford has officially produced over 10 million Mustang vehicles in the past 54 years, making it the best-selling sports car in the world. To celebrate this milestone, Ford unveiled the new Nascar Mustang, which will be taking the place of the custom Ford Fusion sedan, a vehicle that is phasing out of the brand’s lineup.
What’s the secret to the Ford Mustang’s continual success? The Mustang offers a diverse lineup that appeals to a variety of price points and lifestyles, as well as being a household name. Ford has stuck to the original concept behind the Mustang for years – creating a sports car that is powerful, attractive, and affordable for the everyday driver.
Hitting the latest Ford Mustang milestone was a point of pride for Ford CEO Jim Hacket. He called the Mustang “the soul of the company,” praising the Ford Mustang’s role as one of Ford’s signature vehicles.
