The 2019 Ford Ranger is a revived off-road-capable mid-size pickup truck that is redefining the segment — and not just in terms of off-road prowess. The Ford Ranger is also a high-quality family truck, with innovative safety features, including the industry’s first Belt Monitor system for trucks.
This new system alerts the driver if at any point during the drive, a rear seat passenger undoes their seatbelt. Not only that — but it specifies which passenger seat it was. Other systems alert drivers when a vehicle is parked and when it initially pulls away, but the Ford Ranger’s Belt Monitor system works at all times — in parking lots, on highways, and even off the beaten path.
The Belt Monitor first appeared on two 2018 SUV models, the Ford Expedition and the Lincoln Navigator (Lincoln is Ford’s luxury arm). The Ranger is the first of Ford’s trucks to get this technology. According to Ford, it will be a standard feature across all trim levels.
Certain 2019 Ford Ranger models also come standard with Ford Co-Pilot360™ active safety technologies, including the Lane-Keeping System and the class-exclusive Blind Spot Information System with trailer coverage. Other available driver-assist safety features include the reverse sensing system and adaptive cruise control.

The 2019 Ford Ranger reached dealerships just a few months
back, but already this off-road ready pickup is dominating in sales.
Previously, the Ranger had been offered with two package options—the Sport
Appearance Package and the Chrome Appearance Package. The former offers
Magnetic Gray-painted accents and distinct wheels while the latter adds chrome
body accents and wheels.
These two packages have been incredibly popular. According to Ford, more than 67% of all new Ford Rangers have been purchased with one of these two packages. Building on this success, Ford is throwing a third package option into the mix: the Black Appearance Package.
The Black Appearance Package is available on any Ford Ranger
color and adds body-color bumpers and a number of black details to the
exterior. This includes a black bash plate on the FX4 Off-Road Package, black
running boards, black mirrors, a black lower valence, a black sill plate, a
black fender vent surround, a black spray-in bed liner, a black-painted grille,
and high-gloss black-painted 18-inch aluminum wheels with—you guessed it—black
“Like the rest of their gear, Ranger customers are choosing
the option that best fits their adventures,” remarked Todd Eckert, Ford truck

look. The Black Appearance Package adds aggressive style to the adventures our

After taking a break for about eight years, the Ford Ranger is making a comeback. In fact, Ford has started production for the 2019 Ford Ranger at the newly transformed Michigan Assembly Plant. To celebrate the production, Ford invited the plant’s more than 3,000 employees to a special demonstration and off-road experience for the all-new truck.
This event not only celebrates the start of production, but a rebirth of the assembly plant. Ford has invested $850 million to revitalize the plant for modern production. In addition to the Ranger, the Michigan Assembly Plant will product the all-new Ford Bronco, which is scheduled for production in 2020.
“Ford truck fans demanded a midsize pickup that’s ‘Built Ford Tough,’ and we’re delivering with our all-new Ranger that’s specially designed and engineered for American truck customers,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford’s president of global operations. “At the same time, we’re revitalizing our Michigan Assembly Plant and securing good-paying jobs for our hourly employees here in the U.S.”
With vehicles like the Ranger and Bronco, Ford is looking to transform its lineup. These vehicles are the first in a long line of all-new vehicles set to debut by 2020. In fact, Ford plans to revamp more than 75% of its portfolio by that time.
